Senior Installation Technician

Job Description

Responsibilities

The position requires travel to central office locations in New Jersey, Virginia and Maryland.

Functional Responsibilities Include:

  • Capable of all aspects of safe and efficient installation and/or removal of data and communications equipment and hardware.  Safe practices for handling power, switchboard, and fiber cabling to equipment and knowledge of general work safety practices in a working environment.

  • Troubleshooting, testing, and repairing network equipment.

  • Lead verification/Continuity testing

  • Able to prepare and perform a Method of Procedure (MOP) and a Job Information Memo (JIM) as well as final end of job walk through with the customer.

  • Resolve job specification and/or drawing problems.

  • Manage in-progress and final quality inspections.

  • Manage multiple projects, provide timely reporting, and effectively coordinate with the customer and internal organizations within the company.  Strong emphasis on good customer communication skills.

  • Capable of managing and training Level 1 and Level 2 Installation Technicians.

  • Accurately identify, monitor, report, escalate, and resolve project related issues.

  • The ability to solve problems and work independently with minimal direction.

 Requirements

Five to seven years of relevant telecom installation experience.  Highly motivated, self-supervised, customer focused individual with organizational and leadership skills to push all projects to completion.  Solution-driven analysis and excellent communication skills are required. Understanding of telecom networks and related equipment is needed.  Proficiency in Microsoft desk top products such as Excel and Word is needed.  Clean driving record required.


Senior Equipment/Field Telecom Engineer

Job Description

Responsibilities

Perform detailed equipment engineering including the development of central office site surveys and installation specification packages for a telecom services company that operates in the mid-Atlantic region. Candidate will engineer jobs that provide detailed instructions to technicians that install equipment for Private & Public IP Data, Backbone Transport and Video/Data Center networks.  Candidate must have experience in long distance and international voice and data switching platforms (i.e. 5ESS, STP/SS7, HLR), DACS backbone transport - DS0-OC-192, routers, and AC/DC power. The position requires car travel to central office locations in NJ and Maryland.

The Engineer will have access and utilize Verizon proprietary software such as Capacity Creation Process (CCP), Vendorlink, and COAR. 

Functional Responsibilities Include:

·        Create central office site surveys.

  • Create detailed technical instructions (I-SPECs), and order equipment/cables/hardware.

  • Engineering details will include but not be limited to project-specific installation instructions, engineering database (ICON, CCP) updates, equipment configurations, card/port assignments/requirements, power mapping, cable running lists, floor space and rack placement, and detailed Bill of Material (BOM).

  • Coordinate and drive Engineering issues to resolution.

  • Manage multiple projects, provide timely reporting, and effectively coordinate with the customer and internal organizations within the company.

  • Accurately identify, monitor, report, escalate, and resolve project related issues.

  • Visit central office locations for the purpose of completing the site survey.
  •        Support on call duties, night shift rotations, weekend, and special events when required by the customer.

  • The ability to solve problems and work independently with minimal direction.

Requirements

5-7 years of relevant telecom installation experience. Highly motivated, self-supervised, customer focused individual with organizational and leadership skills to push all projects to completion. Solution-driven analysis and excellent communication skills are required. Understanding of telecom networks and related equipment is needed. Proficiency in AutoCAD software is required. Also, proficiency in Microsoft desk top products such as Excel and Word is needed.

Senior Data Center Technician

Summary

Rack / stack /patch/ground network switches and servers. Deploy servers and network equipment in a production data center environment. Prepare, deploy, test fiber and copper patch cables. 

Duties and Responsibilities

§  Build and deploy Server/network equipment

§  Install / decommission switches and servers in a datacenter or IDF.

§  Patching of equipment in the Datacenter or IDF. Familiarity with installing copper/fiber patching and testing connections is required.

§  Experience grounding devices to grounded racks.

§  Installation and testing of Cat6 cables and fiber optic jumpers

  • Cable installation, dress and label cables

  • Ability to make a fiber patch cable(MM & SM) using various connectors (SC,LC)

§  Install and support temp sensing monitors, power strips, server cabs, wireless access points, and IP Phones.

§  Troubleshoot any device in the datacenter that requires physical connectivity.

§  Ability to lead  projects and has the ability to work autonomously under the customer direction, written or verbal, on servers/routers/switches in addition to power cabling of both AC and DC power sources

§  Familiar with manufacturer's equipment such as Cisco, HPE, Dell, Hitachi, NetApp, Juniper, Arista, Big Switch, F5 and most other major manufacturers

§  Familiar with multi-meter, OTDR, ORL and optical power Tests, Fluke Cat-6 Certifier.§

§  Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects while meeting deadlines and ensuring quality

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize.

§  Performs work on ladders and within a raised computer floor as necessary.

§  Performs other related duties as assigned and should be able to lift at least 50 lbs.

§  Ability to travel to sites throughout the country and be away from home for approximately two week intervalsrm
